Exploring Iceland with Jess McGlothlin

This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming back our friend, photographer and writer Jess McGlothlin to Iceland. Jess is known worldwide for her ability to capture the soul of fly fishing, not just the fish, but the people, places, and small moments that make the experience so memorable.

Throughout her trip with Fish Partner, Jess fished and photographed several of our favorite destinations:

🎣 Long Valley Lodge: Our newest lodge, based on the banks of the mighty Blanda, with access to salmon, trout, and char in some of Iceland’s most diverse waters.

🏔️ Highland Fishing Lodge: The heart of our Highland program, offering anglers access to remote rivers and lakes surrounded by Iceland’s otherworldly volcanic landscapes.

🌊 Lake Þingvallavatn / Villingavatn: World-renowned for its massive brown trout and spectacular scenery, these lakes showcase some of the most unique fishing opportunities in Iceland.

Reykjavík Saltwater Tours: Just minutes from the city, the bay offers exciting saltwater fishing with stunning views of the capital and surrounding mountains.

Jess brought her unique perspective to each of these experiences, documenting both the fishing and the landscapes in her signature style. The result is a collection of images that truly reflect the spirit of fishing in Iceland: wild, raw, and unforgettable.

We’re thrilled to share some of her photographs from the trip below.
