Goðdalsá
Goðdalsá – Arctic Char Fishing in the Westfjords
Goðdalsá forms the upper section of the Bjarnarfjarðará river system on the Strandir coast. This small, clear river offers peaceful fishing in secluded surroundings, where careful presentation and reading the water are part of the appeal.
Arctic char are the main species. Runs are less consistent than farther downstream, and catches can vary. The best fishing is generally from mid-July through August, once fish have moved upstream.
With just two rods, Goðdalsá suits anglers who enjoy quiet surroundings and the challenges of smaller water.
Accommodation
There is no fishing lodge at the river. Nearby options include Hótel Laugarhóll, Svanshóll Apartments, Hvammur Cottages and camping in Bjarnarfjörður.
