Bjarnarfjarðará – Sea-Run Arctic Char Fishing

Bjarnarfjarðará flows through Bjarnarfjörður on the Strandir coast of Iceland’s Westfjords, approximately 35 km from Hólmavík. This scenic river offers around 7 km of varied fishing, with 25 marked pools and good access to most fishing spots.

Sea-run Arctic char are the main attraction, with occasional Atlantic salmon also caught. Four rods fish Bjarnarfjarðará; the upper river, Goðdalsá, is sold separately.

Accommodation

There is no dedicated fishing lodge. Nearby options include Hótel Laugarhóll, Svanshóll Apartments and Hvammur Cottages. The valley also offers camping, swimming and natural hot pools.
