Glenda Powell Joins the Fish Partner Team at Long Valley Lodge for 2025 Season

We are thrilled to announce that Glenda Powell, one of the world’s premier fly-casting instructors, will be joining the Fish Partner team at Long Valley Lodge for the 2025 season. She will be teaching anglers on the mighty Blanda River. With nearly 30 years of experience in fly casting and fishing, Glenda brings unparalleled expertise and a passion for teaching to our lodge.

Glenda’s journey in fishing began at the age of nine on the River Inler in Comber, Northern Ireland. At 18, she boldly moved to Scotland, declaring to her parents her lifelong commitment to fishing and teaching. By 19, she had already qualified as a fly casting instructor in Scotland. Her career highlights include competing with the Scottish Ladies International Flyfishing team and managing the Irish Ladies team. In 2006, Glenda’s prowess was recognized globally when she won the Overhead Salmon Distance Casting Competition for women at Carton House.

Renowned for her gentle and effective teaching style, Glenda excels at guiding anglers through the complexities of fly casting. She holds the prestigious APGAI-Ireland Double (salmon) and Single handed certifications, underscoring her status as one of the highest qualified salmon fly casting instructors worldwide.

In addition to her teaching, Glenda travels the globe, hosting trips to renowned fishing destinations such as Patagonia, Greenland, Scotland, Norway, and Iceland ofcourse. She is also a regular demonstrator of fly casting techniques at international shows.

Guests at Long Valley Lodge will have the unique opportunity to learn from Glenda with options ranging from half-day to multi-day casting lessons. Due to her high demand, we encourage guests to pre-book their lessons to ensure availability.
