Battle Hill Lodge – Week 7&8 Report (October 2–14, 2025)
As the fall season nears its end, Battle Hill Lodge continues to deliver unforgettable moments, big fish, and great company. The past two weeks brought a mix of weather and conditions, but also some of the best late-season fishing of the year.
Week 7 (October 2–8)
The week began with high water following earlier rain, but levels steadily dropped to near-perfect conditions as the days went on. One day of brutal wind made things challenging, but the rest brought calm, mild weather, ideal for autumn sea trout fishing in Iceland.
Despite the conditions, the group had a fantastic week:
🎣 Total sea trout landed: 125
🏆 Biggest fish: 95.5 cm (37.5 in)
💪 Three fish over 90 cm, plus a handful of beautiful Arctic char and brown trout caught across the system.
Fish were spread throughout the system, from Vatnamót to the uppermost tributaries, with both bright, sea-liced trout and darker, colored-up fish showing up in catches
Week 8 (October 8–14)
The following week brought more mild autumn weather, with a touch of rain and one windy day to keep things interesting. The rivers fished well, and the lodge was full of energy, with a great mix of international guests and the kitchen team on fire once again.
Streamer fishing slowed down as trout settled in, and nymphing became the key to success.
🎣 Sea trout landed: 208
🏆 Biggest fish: 86cm(34inches)
✨ A handful of salmon, char, and brown trout added to the variety.
The fishery remains in excellent shape as we approach the final stretch of the season, with trout still moving through the system and plenty of action for those willing to adjust tactics.
Looking Ahead
As we move into the final week of the 2025 season, Battle Hill continues to prove why it’s Iceland’s best, most unique, and productive sea trout destination, a place where each cast holds the promise of something special.
