Situated on the banks of the Blanda River, Long Valley Lodge is the perfect base for anglers who want both comfort and variety in their fishing. From this central location, guests can access an incredible mix of waters that hold Atlantic salmon, Arctic char, sea-run Arctic char, brown trout, and sea-run brown trout, offering the rare chance at the Icelandic Grand Slam.
The lodge itself blends modern comfort with the charm of a traditional Icelandic retreat. While many guests come for the fishing, non-anglers are just as welcome — with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the valley’s peaceful landscapes, explore the region’s culture, or simply relax in the quiet beauty of the Icelandic countryside.
Whether you’re chasing fish or just chasing fresh air, Long Valley Lodge offers the ideal setting for both adventure and relaxation.
The Fishing
Salmon Fishing
Long Valley Lodge sits right on the banks of the mighty Blanda River, one of Iceland’s best-known salmon rivers. Here, anglers can experience the thrill of swinging flies with a spey rod, covering broad, powerful pools that hold strong Atlantic salmon. In addition to Blanda, guests could also access the more intimate Svartá, a smaller tributary offering classic single- and double-hand water with its own unique charm.
Trout Fishing
Around Long Valley Lodge, we have a huge variety of trout fishing options for Brown Trout and Arctic Char. From chasing trophy browns on Beat 3 on the mighty Blanda, casting dries for Char and Browns in the upper reaches of Svartá, to exploring the endless waters of the Northern Highlands, and stripping streamers for Sea Run Brown Trout and Sea Run Char in the sea pool of Blanda.
Float trip addon
For those seeking adventure, we offer an exciting float trip down Blanda. This trip provides access to numerous rarely-fished pools, perfect for anglers looking to explore untouched waters.

The Lodge
The comfortable new full-service lodge features 12 double en-suite rooms, a large deck, a hot tub and sauna, and fabulous international cuisine. This, coupled with world-class salmon and trout angling, makes the Blanda one of the top rivers in Iceland today.

Non-Fishing Options
At Long Valley Lodge, non-angling partners are always welcome. The lodge is a comfortable and relaxing place to unwind while others are on the water, and for those who want to explore, we can arrange sightseeing tours, cultural experiences, and nature excursions in the surrounding area. Whether you prefer to relax at the lodge or discover Iceland beyond the rivers, there’s plenty to enjoy.
