Week 4 at Battle Hill Lodge, 14-20. September brought changing conditions, hard-fighting sea trout, and some incredible memories with a truly international group of anglers from the US, Ireland, Wales, and South Africa.
The week began with heavy rain and high water, which made for perfect streamer conditions, and the fishing was on fire. Later in the week, the skies cleared to bright blue and the river dropped, shifting the game to stealthy approaches and delicate nymphing. Both tactics produced excellent results.
By week’s end, the group had landed an impressive 157 sea trout, including multiple fish over 90 cm. The biggest measured 95.5 cm (37.6 inches). A handful of Arctich Char and Atlantic Salmon caught this week too. Fish were caught throughout the system, from silver, sea-liced fresh arrivals to beautifully colored-up autumn trout
It was a memorable week at Battle Hill, great fishing, fantastic company, and proof once again of just how special this fishery is.
