Lake Geitabergsvatn in Svínadalur
The lake is the northernmost lake in the water system in Svinadalur. As with the other lakes in Svinadalur, Lake Geitabergsvatn is a part of the water system that fuels the river Laxa í Leirársveit. As a result, a few salmon and sea-run trout are caught every season. There is mostly native brown trout at the lake, and they can be pretty decent-sized. The lake is very easily accessible and a really fun lake to fish in.

Fishing is allowed from 7 am until 10pm from April 1st until August 20th. After that, the lake closes at 8 pm.
How to get there
To get to the lake from Reykjavik you follow road 1 through the Hvalfjarðargöng tunnel. Continue on until you cross river Laxá í Leirársveit and then shortly after that River Leirá. Make a right turn on to road 504 (changes into road 502) and follow the road until you reach the lake. The distance from the highway to the lake is about 17 kilometers.
