Volcano Lake

Volcanolake (Ljotipollur)

Lake Ljótipollur, or Volcano Lake, is an amazing lake, situated at the center of a volcanic crater. The lake is inhabited by brown trout, which can found here in great numbers. Light tackle and small flies are the order of the day here. Whether you love to fish or prefer hiking and sightseeing, you will not be disappointed by the environment, which is both diverse and breathtaking. The black sands, craters, lava, moss, crystal-clear water and streams, interspersed with muddy, reddish-brown glacial rivers, are truly a sight to see. The Volcano Lake is close to Landmannalaugar, a place of extraordinary beauty, where one can enjoy a swim in a wild hot spring stream.
